Manufacture Production Process
Polyester resin is a very versatile material which can be cast into silicone rubber moulds to produce almost any size & shape. Our vast range of textured finishes includes almost any type of wood grain stained to any shade from light beech to dark mahogany & rosewood. A variety of natural stone, terracotta, slate, marble, rocks & pebble items are available. Textile finishes can also be achieved including leather, cloth & rope which come in a range of colours. We are currently developing a range of metallised bronze, silver & pewter finishes.
All types of spray finishes are available including matt, semi-gloss, full gloss & brushed metallic colours. These can be coated with lacquer or varnish to an exterior grade level for external use.
Flexible Resin Castings & Unfinished Natural Resin
Many polyester resin castings are produced in a light or dark base colour that compliments the final top coat colour finish. Most of our clients prefer to take our resin in these natural “base colours” to complement any finish & colour they apply in their own workshops at a later stage.
Flexible resin
Our master craftsmen & fire place mantel manufacturing clients prefer a more flexible resin cast to replicate the many complicated curved carvings they require. These often need to be glued & pinned onto the pole, furniture or fire surround.
Master prototype model making & carving service
Most of our original masters are produced “in house”. When required, we work with a range of local & national master carvers & solid 3D model makers. Your prototype (master model) can be hand carved or modelled from a 3D image or scaled technical drawing. From this image we can produce a full size master model within days or weeks. Once approved this master model is used to produce silicone rubber production moulds. Your master can be held in storage to take future rubber moulds from, when required.
Silicone rubber production moulds
A single mould or set of rubber production moulds can be produced within days. These moulds are produced “in house” within our product development & mould making workshop by our master craftsmen. From these moulds an exact replica can be cast – a small shrinkage factor of 2%-3% has to be allowed on every casting. Please note all rubber moulds have a limited “shelf life” & maximum number of castings per mould.
Production, stock “Call off” service
Most of our production is planned to meet direct orders from our clients. Many of our large clients take advantage of our “stock & call off” service by placing advanced bulk orders which are invoiced at the time of “call off “. Please enquire about this service. Whilst we have limited storage we can work on a “just in time” production/delivery if planned in advance, where this service is required.
